ZACHARY Z. KINNEY, Esquire

Mr. Zachary Kinney, Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Hampden Pait. His law practice entails: international trade, international economic development, international business law and international business transactions.  Mr. Kinney has drafted a number of international agreements, international legal documents, and correspondence which have successfully concluded a number of international business deals. He is also an expert in electronic commerce and intellectual property.

 

Prior to joining Hampden Pait, Mr. Kinney served as Law Professor and Associate Dean of Everest College – Arlington Campus. He also served as a JAG Officer, or military lawyer, in the United States Air Force for twenty years. As a JAG officer, Mr. Kinney held a number of high profile legal positions from In-House Counsel to General Counsel. He has successfully negotiated scores of business agreements for the U.S. Air Force and his litigation background is second to none.  He has successfully litigated criminal, civil and business cases as a JAG Officer.  Mr. Kinney has also represented the Air Force in Personal Injury cases and won several multimillion dollar cases for his clients.

 

Before joining the JAG Office, Mr. Kinney was an associate attorney with the Washington, DC commercial law firm of Shepard, Saite, and Hood. His legal briefs and legal research led to countless multimillion dollar victories for his clients. 

 

Mr. Kinney received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland (1978), and he received his Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of Antioch School of Law in Yellow Springs, Ohio (1983).  Mr. Kinney is licensed to practice law before: the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Air Force Criminal Court of Appeals. Mr. Kinney served as Law Professor at Central Texas College teaching business law, legal research and writing to college and law students.

 

We are proud to have Mr. Kinney as our General Counsel with the breadth and depth of expertise he possesses in his legal practice. Mr. Kinney has published two law review articles and a book entitled, “The Bug Out Diary,” which explores the legal and commercial cost of the eruption of Mount Pinatubo volcano on Clark Air Base Republic of the Philippines.  He was also a General Attorney Advisor For the Air Force Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) AFOSI Agency. The Air Force JAG Office is one of the world's largest law firms with over 1800 lawyers and Mr. Kinney was an accomplished Air Force JAG Lawyer during the time he served with that organization.

Mr. de Leon joined Hampden Pait in the winter of 2008 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Assistant General Counsel. In his current position he shares responsibility for running the companys worldwide legal organization with General Counsel Mr. Zachary Kinney. His law practice entails international trade, international law, international business law and international business transactions. His legal background also includes labor and employment law, corporate law, government procurement, bankruptcy, and environmental law. He also has extensive experience in public relations and commercial sales and marketing.

 

Prior to joining Hampden Pait, Mr. de Leon in his civilian capacity held various positions at Anheuser-Busch, Inc., including Region Sales Manager in Arizona, Director of Corporate Relations, and Associate General Counsel. Before joining Anheuser-Busch, Inc., Mr. De Leon practiced with the law firm of Kutak Rock in Phoenix, Arizona. His practice at Kutak Rock involved advising and representing clients on corporate, franchise, intellectual property, lending, labor, and employment law issues. His practice also included the appellate representation of creditors and bondholder committees on bankruptcy matters. Before joining Kutak Rock, Mr. De Leon served as a Legislative Assistant on the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

 

Prior to joining Hampden Pait he served as both an active-duty and reserve JAG Officer, or military lawyer, in the United States Air Force for sixteen years. As a Judge Advocate Generals Corp Officer, Mr. De Leon held a number of high profile legal positions from In-House Counsel to United States Southern Command legal liaison to Colombia. He has successfully negotiated scores of business agreements for the U.S. Air Force and has an extensive litigation background. He has successfully litigated criminal, civil and business cases as a JAG Officer. Mr. Louis De Leon has also represented the Air Force on contractual and programmatic matters involving acquisition of complex supplies and services, communications equipment, software and data valued in excess of $100 million.

 

Mr. de Leon received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame (1982), and he received his Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of Arizona, in the State of Arizona (1985). Mr. de Leon is licensed to practice law before: the Arizona Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the State of Arizona, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the U.S. Air Force Criminal Court of Appeals. Mr. de Leon has served on a number of community boards including the East Los Angeles YMCA.
